Round 1: The Basic Premise/Talent

Promt:

"The outcome of all mortal conflict is decided here, in the wake of angels"

The Ether, the immortal realm beyond our own, resonates endlessly with the warring of angels, both fallen and righteous. They wage war for influence, sway over the flow of human history and, eventually, complete dominion over the mortal plane. Every blow struck in this heavenly battle echoes down to humanity, sending latent shockwaves through our world. This process is absolute, and has raged undisturbed since the very dawn of mankind.

That is, until now...

The archdemon Azazel, fifth among all fallen, has tried to break free from hell by sealing himself into a condemned mortal named Daniel Hightower.

But something has gone awry.

Rather than assuring Azazel's liberty, the transformation has instead bound his soul to Daniel's, giving his host the ability to fade between the ethereal and earthly planes. Now, whenever conflict erupts, Daniel is thrown headlong into the violence of heaven's war. It is here, borrowing the power of Azazel, that the mortal will be forced to fight and influence not only his own fate, but the destiny of millions of others.

Of course, he'll have to simply survive first...

Characters, Please

Daniel Temanite:

Daniel Lost his immediate family during the Los Angeles riots of the 90's. The sheer chaos and emotion from these events overwhelmed him as a child. Daniel soon developed a cynical, emotionally detached personality due to what he had witnessed- and done. Unable to cope, Daniel instead chose to shut his feelings out, along with everybody else. Socially isolated, he considered his life empty and purposeless. It felt like he was chasing the sun, waking up every day only to realize he was headed in the wrong direction.

Something changed.

At first, when Daniel woke up with an oddly enigmatic voice in his head telling him he'd been damned to hell and other nonsense, he assumed he'd finally gone insane. It wasn't until he started teleporting into ethereal battlefields that Daniel realized the true gravity of his situation. That is, he was either going to hell or fighting his way out of it. The more he thought of it, the more it horrified him- and yet, for the first time in a long while, Daniel felt a dark, familiar excitement begin to bud in his chest...

Azazel:

The archdemon Azazel, fifth among all fallen, is one of the Ether's most feared beings. Through his influence, some of histories greatest tragedies have been brought to fruition...

Much like his former master, Azazel is a creature of defiance- and has been plotting his escape ever since the fall. While his brethren slowly succumbed to pandemonium° , Azazel resisted, keeping a fraction of his original nature intact. Through an eternity of separation and darkness he waited... and waited. When the opportunity finally arose, he unhesitatingly cut through hoards of his own, unsuspecting kin and sealed himself inside a condemned mortal, Daniel. All Azazel needed next was for his unwitting counterpart to die on the mortal plain. Then, and only then, would he be released and free to roam the earth.

Complications, however, soon arose. With all his planning Azazel never anticipated that his presence would cause his host to sporadically transcend dimensions. But how could he have? After all, this motion was the first of its kind. Nonetheless, if Daniel died in the Ether then Azazel would be released there, and trapped for another eternity. That could not, and would not happen.

Now, seeping through Daniel's wounds, the archdemon is forced to lend the pathetic mortal his power -and in the process, participate in a form of combat the likes of which creation has never seen..

° Pandemonium. Latin essentially meaning "place of all demons." Originally used by Milton to describe the structure of hell.

Sariel:

Though she hails from the choir of Cherubim, Sariel's unusual prowess and fair complexion often leads to the enemy mistaking her for a Seraphim° . It's a mistake that she admittedly enjoys, and often leads to an air of arrogance in her conduct. Her companions tolerate her, however, focusing on her overall good nature and the simple fact that, in the end, she truly is on another level.

She found him.

The first celestial to discover Daniel, Sariel's initial reaction was to kill him, and she nearly did so. However, once she ascertained what he really was, the unfortunate mortal became a source of fascination. For an eternity all Sariel and her kind had ever known was endless conflict. But this was different, something new. The fallen had never tried something like this before- and how is it her kind wasn't aware? Oh, this was something important all right, and she was going to have a hand in it whether the mortal willed it or not.

° Cherubim. The eighth choir of angels.

° Seraphim. The ninth, and highest choir of angels
