A Breakthrough year for the contest, where the Grand Prize reached $700, and we were able to take the contest into store-level action for the first time. The voting was huge, the top 3 books all were at or near 500 copies in sales in Round 4, and we managed not to crash any servers or have any interruptions in the website during the show...we even got the Idol #0 issues printed fast and out to the fans - with the exception of the Canadian orders, which took longer due to customs forms and a printing problem...minor problem compared to other years.
This year of the contest lead directly to the re-formation of the SPA Comics Imprint, and the re-start of Self Publisher! Magazine, thanks a lot to Winner Erik Hendricks, and the SPA's gathering of a Development Team to get things to the Next level. Enjoy looking over the projects that made 2009 special, and see where they and their creators have gone since. |
