If YOU have ideas or suggestions as to what we need to do to make a distro that you will actually use, and support, please tell us.

There must be a thing you can add to the site, that calculates shipping through the USPS site, like stores do, or ebay, I don't know much, since I only use greek postal services as a dealer :p

My suggestion would be simply to use the existing software you have, since it's actually pretty nice, and trim down the look and feel into something easier to navigate. We LOVE the fact that you've got so much history in the Distro, but it might be easier to navigate if there's a little less going on in there. This is something I think we can talk about with the Dev team and figure out some good options. Main thing, though, isn't that people WOULDN'T buy comics from the Distro, there's just not enough direction TO buy things in the Distro, you know?  It's a combination of marketing on the creators' side, publisher side, and distributor side.

That's a short term solution…

I think there would be much better system smoothness, if it were integrated into the same software (just a postal module add-on would need created - it simply doesn't have anything that does what is really needed for shipping).

Presenting history and presenting available items, really do need to become 2 separate things, in separate locations…

Ian

Who do you use as a hosting service?  Though my site is currently down in redesign, I use godaddy who offers a bunch of free add ons to your site.

I'm currently looking into shopping cart features and they have some pretty good ones.  I havent explored all the features yet but I think they have the stuff you are looking for.  Does your hosting site offer any free add ons?  If so, could those help you?

The shopping cart isn't the actual problem…as Erik pointed out…We do have a very functional one in place…it is the presentation within that that I'd say is playing a large role in non-use of it.

If I make ANY move off that software, it will be because we have developed an add-on module for shipping for the software THIS site runs on.

I'm using a company called elief, and have freebies available, but the cart we are using I paid for. I just don't have design skill to really make it shine.

This might be difficult considering the sheer number of publications in the distro. Sample pages of each publication would be nice, maybe it could be done with all new entries.

I've used the Dimestore Distro when I ordered my 2009 calendar, and you are correct Ian, it doesn't allow for multiple purchases of the same item. Could it be done in PayPal for instance? I have to research this to see if this could be a viable alternative to purchasing products.
